Improvement Project of Science Construction CS

Abstract Science Construction’s business is in planning, developing and building road projects. The major of its clients are municipalities, city governments, and other public sector entities. While the bankruptcy rates for these clients is very low, when economic downturns happen, their ability to pay in a timely fashion also suffers. This leads to businesses such as Science Construction needing to take on additional debt and to find creative methods in order to stay afloat during times of recession. Methods such as selling accounts receivables at discounted rates and taking larger lines of credit through banks and other lending institutions are some of the ways organizations can remain viable when their cash inflows have turned into a trickle. Science Construction is asking the Turkish Courts to postpone their bankruptcy proceedings for a year while they attempt to restructure. Through this, suggestions such as forcing shareholders to pay their debt to the organization, gaining credi

RTI finds fishing in Mineral Water !!

Right to information or RTI act dug out many misdeeds in several government organizations. The latest is siphoning off money placing purchase orders for Bisleri Mineral water at inflated rates by different Govt. Deptt. at the same time. The RTI revealed this in details. In the under noted letter I received you may find the names of officials involved in the deals. Of course we have to wait and see; after inquiry who are fixed ! See that amazing amount of exchequer's money is drained out thus! 1.              "   Different Ministries/Departments procure Mineral water (packaged drinking water) to fulfill requirement of drinking water for its employees, preferably senior level officers. But the sad part of this is that, while M/o Agriculture (Department of Agriculture & Cooperation) is purchasing 20 Ltrs. Jar of Bisleri Mineral water @ Rs.50/- per jar, the same is being purchased by M/o Urban Development @ Rs.78/- per jar. M/o UD purchases nearly 1200 jars per mo

Bad Roads; In West Bengal

Have you recently traveled through district roads of West Bengal? It your answer is in affirmative, then I need not to tell you how those roads are! If you did not take any travel through those roads, I must say you are lucky. Surprising year after year they are repaired and the cycle goes on and on! There are government departments like CPWD and PWD for the arterial roads and others like municipal or Panchayat authorities for the connecting or smaller roads stretching with in localities.  The arterial roads maintained by state PWD departments are more or less of same features. With potholes all around, some stretches are so bad; they give you the taste of real ride! Crores of rupees are spent year after year; one surprises how much really spent for repairing them. It is open secret that government departments like PWD and Irrigation are most fetching for those running them. Right from minister on the top, the Chaprasis get his share. It's a nexus of politicians, officials and c

Sedition or Subversion!

Dr. Binayak Sen has been granted bail by Supreme Court on 15 Th April 2011. That happens to be Bengali New Year day; Dr. Sen being Bengali what better gift be their than this for freedom loving Bengali all over the world. Dr. Binyak Sen is a pediatrician and a social worker. Leaving the material charms that a doctor of his standing enjoys in cities and towns, he had been serving the poor tribal of Chattisgarh adjoining Bilaspur areas. Chattisgarh state brought the charge against him that he had connections with infamous Naxal leader Mr, Narayan Sanyal and literature related their ideology found in his residence. So the charges of sedition was framed and in the lower court he was awarded life imprisonment. The Chattisgarh High Court turned down his bail application during the pendency of his appeal against lower court's verdict. At last in Supreme Court the justice could be found at least for time being. The division bench judges observed “He may be a sympathiser. That doesn’t mak

No-takers for US H-1B Visa

11000, U.S H-1B visas remain unused for the first time ever. In fact there is no taker! The mandatory 65000 H-1B visa are most sought after for Indian professionals seeking jobs in U.S. This visa is non-immigrant visa in United States that allows US companies to employ foreign employees in special categories. In 2008 the picture was different. By April the quota was exhausted and USCIS resorted to computerized draw to determine lucky ones eligible for visa. Last year the the cap was reached by 21 st December. There was steep hike in visa fees from $320 to $2320 by Obama government. This has been done to garner $650million to hike security budget in US- Mexico border. The move was not welcome by Indian IT companies. They raised concern over the issue but failed to deter American policy makers. There is other story circulating like this that Obama government is covertly encouraging protectionism. Not anymore small and medium companies are getting visa. The bigs are spared so t

Crime and Punishment

Domestic crimes are on rise in the state of West Bengal as never before. In the northern states in India, cases of dowry deaths, rapes, kidnappings were rampant. A few years ago kidnapping became a sort of industry in Bihar, where people were joking the kidnappers may seek bank finances as the business seems quite lucrative! Though sporadic cases like 'Khadim-owner' did took place in Kolkata but they were mastermind and executed remotely .  But recent reports suggests domestic crimes like father killing son or husband killing wife are becoming almost every day affair. The sports enthusiast father killing budding table tennis player teen age son with table tennis bat stunned every Kolkatan. So the recent killing by Ex Airman father his minor son with bat in his apartment, apparently for misunderstanding with his wife who was staying separately. Are they symptoms of gross social discontent, mistrust ? Our state of West Bengal is witnessing steep rise of suicide cases and still mo

Biodeisel and Global warming

All over the world global warming and its associated affects like climate change, rise of seawater level due to melting of ice in Antarctic and Arctic continents; are matters of great concerns. Scientists predict within few decades (the opinion varies) coastal areas of many continents and subcontinents will be submerged under seawater like the mythological city Atlantis. Preserving forests with its greenery for the very cause of absorbing carbon- di -oxide and controlling industrial emission of toxic gasses along with carbon-di-oxide are the immediate steps advised by them. Most of the industrial developed countries are taking wily nilly, the measure to curb the emission. The world’s greatest polluter United States though forced others to take necessary measures to curb emission putting them under the threat of black listing for their imports; they themselves appears to be least interested to curb emission !     Developed nations in Europe have taken pioneering steps to curb emissio

Meltdown and Indians

EXPLAINED... { IN SIMPLE THE DESI WAY } Khaja Bhai is the proprietor of a Nehari Shop in Hyderabad . Sales are low and, in order to increase them, he comes up with a plan to allow his customers to eat now and pay later. He keeps track of the meals consumed on a ledger. Word gets around and as a result increasing numbers of customers flock to Khaja Bhai’s Hotel. Khaja Bhai's suppliers are delighted and are very willing to sell more and more raw materials for the meals he prepares. Khaja Bhai shows them his ledger of receivables and they extend him credit. A young and dynamic customer service consultant at the local bank recognizes these customer debts as valuable future assets and gives Khaja Bhai a credit line and then increases his borrowing limit. Taking advantage of his customers' freedom from immediate payment constraints, Khaja jacks up the prices of his Nehari, Kulche, Jabde, Paaya and Zabaan. Customers don't mind as they are not required to pay

Wage Settlement in Indian Banking Industry

After much dilly dallying the wage negotiation in Banking Industry is likely to be completed shortly; as reported by the Trade Unions engaged in negotiation. What seems with elections in different states closing in, their political bosses have shown them green signal! Reason? you must know what follows in every industry after wage negotiation in the Nationalized sectors in our country, a good percentage of the arrears (the accumulated amount of the balance of the difference between enhanced wage and existing wage, since the effective date of settlement)is taken away from every employee (of course who are members of these unions) as levy. This makes a handsome fund in the hand of these Trade Unions; a chunk from that is doled out to their respective political parties. So it makes sense to hasten the wage settlement. Imagine; that it is almost two and half years now the settlement is on; in between Bank employees have gone on strikes number of times; leaving the customers to suffer. N

Do good & Remain Blessed!

A woman baked chapati for members of her family and an extra one For a hungry passerby. She kept the extra chapati on the Window-sill, for whosoever would take it away. Everyday, a hunchback came and took away the chapati. Instead of expressing gratitude, he muttered the following words as he went His way: "The evil you do remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" This went on, day after day. Everyday, the hunch-back came, picked up the chapati and uttered the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" The woman felt irritated. "Not a word of gratitude," she said to herself... "Everyday this hunchback utters this jingle! What does he mean?" One day, exasperated, she decided to do away with him. "I shall get rid of this hunchback," she said. And what did she do? She added poison to the Chapati she prepared for him! As she was about to keep it on the window sill, her hands trembled. "W

Nationalised Banks are turning their staffs bankrupts!

There are many who think the employees in banking sector are elite group of workers, getting thick pay packet every month comparing to their peers elsewhere. In fact; the undercurrent is envious sometime and becomes evident when irate customers pass casual remarks like ‘got a king’s job and its inherent right to harass us’! Well cause of their frustrations is understandable, but now they too can cheer since the bank’s staffs are most meagerly paid amongst Govt. Organisations or any Central or most of the State Govt. undertakings. Surprised! But it is true. Mind you as of now; a General Manager in nationalised bank draws a salary lesser than that of a Section Officer of Central Government! A Probationary Officer of Bank gets lesser salary than a Clerk of Central Government and a Bank Clerk draws lesser than a Peon of Central Government. Most of the State Government employees of similar status enjoy emoluments far better than their counter parts in Banking Industries. This all is h

International Elder's Day

As a kid the company of my grandpa or Granma was truly a matter of fun and pleasure. Never had I imagined how it would be when I attain their age. These days in metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi or Kolkata hardly I find the kids in company of their grandpas or Grandmas; instead they seemed to be either towed by their mother or tagged with their father. Not that all the kids have lost their grandparents but definitely lost them from their company. Modern parents do not like their kids to remain in company of elderly people as they think this may drive their wards backwards. After all elders are from older generations. I read about such parental philosophy decades ago prevailing in developed countries like US or some European countries. Looking closer to their social and family networks now I find they no more consider it was right. The elders in most of those countries are neglected now; most of them were modern parents then! 1st of October; my attention was drawn towards an advertiseme

wage Revision in Banking Industries, India

Wage revision in Banking Industries is overdue by almost two years now! The dilly dally by Indian Banker's Association for agreeing to a meager hike of even 17.5% appears to be a ridiculous! Where as before election the Central Government and various State Government employees or the employees of various other Public Sector Undertakings were doled out with 30-50% pay hike. Perhaps they were with the view of wooing their votes for ensuing election. Any way , the public sector bank employees have demanded another options for pension, since that was offered once in 1995 and never again. Surprisingly even Reserve Bank of India's employees were offered pension options repeatedly, since it concerns employee's social security. The Indian Banker's Association is ducking this legitimate demand on one or other pretext; that too, when the Public Sector Banks earned around Rs30000 crores during the last fiscal. The amount of bad debts is anything around rupees one lac crores! An

Obama, Out Sourcing and Uncle Tom's Cabin

The recent measures adopted by US president to impose more tax on those companies who outsource labors mainly from India, China or Philippines; may not encourage the company to source their workforce locally. Such measures have been adopted by President to salvage US economy from recession, unemployment et el. He expects this measure will motivate the US companies to offer more employments to Americans; so in turn this will help salvage US economy to some extent. May be it is beyond President Obama’s wild imagination that in India a high skilled engineer can be hired for $2 or less per hour! In US at least $8-10 are paid to unskilled labors per hour. Obviously it will be still attractive to outsource from India than engaging local workforce despite of higher tax burden for US companies. Though slapping more tax will shrink the margin and reduce the bottom line (profit)of the Indian companies. This has been opined by the industry experts. Well this may be matter of relief for Indian IT

Ballot Box Vs EVMs

The ballot box has been replaced with electronic voting machine in India. This is for saving time, quick counting and of course to check the misuse of ballot box system of voting. The modus operendi of false voting is well known to every voting Indian. But could this stop false voting? Perhaps not; in fact it has become easier and more rampant with EVMs; sources say. This takes place with the consent of everybody present in any particular booth. It is heard that some time the agents of contesting parties happily distribute between themselves the number of false votes.
